Lose Weight and Keep It Off

For years, doctors have been saying that Stress is the cause of IBS. I’m Dr. Bunny Vreeland, and, while I believe and agree that Stress does exacerbate IBS, my personal research shows that 100% of my clients were involved in some sort of Body Trauma prior to the onset of IBS. After researching the histories of many of my clients’ over the past seven years, it is my belief and contention that IBS is caused by Body Trauma rather than stress, alone.

I started thinking about this connection when a group of children between nine and eleven years of age started showing signs of IBS. “What could be causing this new surge of younger clients?”. I could not find a common thread expect they all talked about stress. I thought the doctors might be right, but I also believed that just about everyone has stress in their life. I couldn’t understand why some people got IBS and others didn’t if stress was affecting them, all.

One day, one of the parents (of a 10-year old client) mentioned about getting a new book-bag for the client because, “They carry so much weight that the last one ripped out and it cost more to repair it than to get a new one.” I began to wonder about the connection of the book-bags and IBS.

As I questioned each of my young clients and their parents, I found that every one of them were carrying excessively heavy book bags which was an assault on their growing bodies. This theory was further supported when I spoke to Dr. Dave Lemons, a local chiropractor and associate, who told me he had been seeing young children as a result of the damage the heavy book bags were causing.

I called the Superintendent of Schools in Oxnard, CA. I asked her about the book-bags and was told that there had been so many complaints that they were now recommending pushcarts for the books and would be discontinuing the backpack type of book-bag. During the transition, I noticed a decline in the clients between 9-11 years old.

I now focused on finding out if all my clients had encountered any kind of Body Trauma just prior to the onset of IBS. In each case, this proved to be a valid concern.

Some examples include:

Maia, a 22-year-old photography student, came to me originally to quit smoking when she disclosed that she suffered from IBS. Maia had traveled to Puerto Rico at age 15, where she became violently ill from food poisoning, twice (Body Trauma). Maia was given a series of antibiotics and, while the poisoning cleared up, she suffered from IBS for a couple years after that experience. We were able to completely control the IBS with the exception of the few times when she drank coffee. These are Maia’s words: “I first went for hypnotherapy to quit smoking, which I did after 3 sessions. Then I discovered hypnotherapy works with IBS. I was excited because I have been suffering with IBS since I lived in Puerto Rico. After 4 sessions my symptoms were 90% under control and now I have had no symptoms for over a year. And, I haven’t had a cigarette, either.”

Donald, a 47-year-old attorney came to see me because was struggling with his practice because he was always in the bathroom. When I questioned him, I discovered that he had been in a car accident (Body Trauma) and had suffered some serious injuries as a result of the accident. He was hospitalized for a week and sent home. Shortly after, he began having constant diarrhea. He didn’t want to see the doctor because he felt that the stay in the hospital was were he originally contracted IBS. Donald ate a lot of ‘diet food’, which seemed to exacerbate the IBS problem. Just getting off the processed foods seemed to help. Donald reported that his IBS symptoms were under control by the 4th session unless he ate any of the processed foods that caused him distress. These are Donald’s words: “I remember times when I had diarrhea so bad that it lasted for over two weeks without a break! I hated going to my doctor because nothing they gave me worked. Hypnotherapy is the best thing I have done for the IBS. I haven’t had a flare up for over a year.”

Beverly, has three grown daughters who sent her to me after I worked with one of the daughters to reduce her weight. When she discovered that Hypnotherapy could help IBS, she got very excited and wanted me to help her mother.

Beverly remarried after her first husband died and, as a result, had given birth to a ‘surprise’ baby a year before (Body Trauma) I saw her. Twenty years had past since her last child had been born and Beverly experienced a difficult fourth pregnancy. It was shortly after the baby was born that Beverly started experiencing IBS symptoms. Since she was already seeing the doctor for post-delivery check-ups, she told the doctor about the symptoms and he diagnosed her with IBS. Her daughters were doing most of the grocery shopping for her when she came for her first session. Beverly had a ‘thing for cheese’ which we found was a trigger for the IBS flare-up. After doing some testing, Beverly found that she was able to enjoy low-fat string cheese, which made her happy. These are Beverly’s words: “My IBS was so bad I had to carry an extra change of clothing wherever I went. I was becoming a prisoner in my own house. After 2 hypnotherapy sessions I began to feel better. It really helped me to get control of my body.”

These are just a few of the IBS case studies I have worked with. With each client, an obvious Body Trauma was present shortly before the onset of IBS symptoms charge! A Hypnotherapist is a great tour guide but he/she must have the client’s cooperation for this to be successful.

Ideas, goals, and dreams could be a reality if only you could make yourself do the necessary steps to achieve them.

That is how hypnosis works to motivate you to put into action the plans you have been waiting to implement “someday.”

Hypnosis is a powerful tool that helps people realize their potential and put dreams into action by removing the barriers that impair motivation.

Hypnosis is often misunderstood. Many people believe it can force you to act and react in whatever way the hypnotherapist instructs. Hypnosis cannot make a person into someone different and cannot control a person’s mind. Hypnosis can only draw upon what is within the person.

If hypnosis cannot change who you are, then you may wonder how it can improve one’s motivation. It is simple. Motivation is merely a stimulation response. Many things can motivate a person. For example, hunger motivates us to go and get something to eat. Or, on an emotional stimulation response may be that the promise of payment motivates us to go to work each day.

Sometimes people know what they want, but can’t seem to get motivated to go after it. It may be that the objective is not a priority, like a paycheck coming in to support a family or the need for food. This may be true even though the end goal is something that can improve their life or even bring short term happiness. That is where hypnosis comes into play.

Because hypnosis draws upon the information already stored in the recesses of the mind it can reorganize and in a way reprioritize goals and objectives. Hypnosis is a self improvement method of bringing to the forefront of the mind the information that will serve as a driving force to action.

“Slow and steady wins the race.” It’s not glamorous, but it’s true. The tragedy is that most people never even get in the race, and many of those who do hope that success comes easily and swiftly. When it doesn’t, they’re out of the race, before it really begins. What they don’t realize is that the decision to be unstoppable is never made just once. It is made moment by moment, again and again.

Setbacks are inevitable. In fact, they’re evidence that we’re doing something. The more mistakes we make, the greater our chance of success. Failures indicate a willingness to experiment and take risks.

Unstoppable women have learned that each failure brings wisdom and insight that will take them
one step closer to achieving their dreams. When we focus on one unstoppable moment at a time and stay the course, the end result will take care of itself.

It’s important to remind ourselves that failure is an event, not a person. If you don’t achieve your 30-day goal, does that make you a failure? If you don’t get a promotion at work, does that make you a failure? If you get married and then divorced, does that make you a failure? Of course not!

Failure doesn’t characterize who you are. It is simply an event that happens to you. And when you continue to move forward, despite difficult experiences, you have already won!

ACTION: Find the gift in the setback The next time the outcome you hoped for doesn’t transpire, look for the gift.

Ask yourself the following questions:
1. What can I learn from what happened?

2. What am I grateful for about this experience?

3. What are the potential benefits of this experience?

4. What is the best way for me to move forward?

Commit to finding the gift in any setback. And in advance, tell yourself that you will never, never, never quit. If you don’t give up, you simply cannot fail. Not only will you achieve your dreams, but the combination of your commitment, courage, and faith will rise as the greatest triumph of all.

Choose to be unstoppable!

One of my favorite quotes is: “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.”

Know where you are going.

If you’re feeling stuck and frustrated in your life, then I can almost guarantee that you’re one of the 97% who hasn’t defined their goals.

Most people could tell you what’s on T.V. tonight before they could tell you what their life’s goal’s are! How can this be? How can something that is so important to personal success be overlooked by so many people?

I know one reason is the word “goal”. It is such a business-like, logical word for something that is so magical and important… what you experience in your life!

So, from now on let’s refer to it as “dreams”. Expand your thinking and imagine what you truly want in your life. What are your dreams for the future?

Are you going to live a life filled with new and exciting adventures? Are you going to have all the money you want so that you can spend your time doing what you’re truly passionate about with people you love?

If so, than you need to start by having a crystal clear vision of what you want and how your going to do it.

This life isn’t a dress rehearsal and if you’re going to live a truly special life, then you need to have clarity, strategy, and motivation.

Once you have these 3 components, fear melts into ambition, confusion fades into understanding, and your potential becomes your reality.

Everyone knows that setting goals dreams and staying focused is essential to accomplishment, but, let’s face it, goal setting can be boring. Sitting down writing anything that comes to mind, getting sidetracked or overwhelmed, until you finally end up frustrated and quit.

But, suppose you could just relax and allow a clear and compelling blueprint for your life to manifest before you.

Imagine… knowing exactly what you want in life. Sound too good to be true? Well, it isn’t if you use the right process.

Think about it. ‘Clarity’ is the most powerful weapon you have when it comes to living your dream life. When you know exactly what you want, you’re going to instantly feel more relaxed and ambitious. You’ll find yourself getting more done with less effort. Why? Because you’ll have a clear vision of what you truly want.

When this happens and you align your life with your deepest desires, magical things happen.
